Terms and conditions
These are the rules for using Velora: how it works, what it costs, and what you and we can expect.
This page isn't final yet: details marked “To be confirmed” are still to come.
Who we are
Velora is run by the company named on our contact page. Its registered office is in Phagwara, Punjab, India.
Who can use Velora
You must be 18 or older. If you give a date of birth under 18, we refuse the sign-up and bar that phone number from signing up again. Your account is tied to your phone number: one number, one account.
Threads and Knots
Every conversation starts as a Thread, which lasts a day. If you both tap “Tie the knot”, it becomes a Knot: permanent, and free for both of you, forever. Only the other person can make a conversation permanent; it can never be bought. A Thread that runs out is kept, read-only, and can be reopened for the price shown before you pay.
Paying
Women never pay for anything on Velora. Men pay for some things, like opening a Thread, in Velas: the unit of paid balance on Velora. The price is always shown before you pay, and prices can change.
You buy Velas in packs, and they reach your balance once your payment is confirmed. Velas never expire. They have no cash value, and they can't be transferred or given to another account.
Your profile
You choose your gender once, when you sign up, and you can't change it later. Women verify with a selfie before their profile goes live; for men it's optional. You can lock Velora on your device with a 4-digit PIN. After 5 wrong tries we sign you out, and you sign back in with your phone number.
Safety
In a Thread's first 20 messages, we hide phone numbers, email addresses, UPI IDs and social media handles. We refuse messages that are abusive or that ask for money.
You can report or block anyone. A block works both ways: neither of you sees the other anywhere in Velora. Reports go to our moderators, who can freeze or remove an account, and three reports from different people within a day freeze an account straight away.
What we promise
We never run fake profiles. There are no public ratings or reviews of people: the only notes people leave each other are kudos, short positive notes that the person who receives them decides whether to show. And we never hide your profile to push you towards paying.
Screenshots
We can't stop screenshots on the web. Photos in a private album carry the viewer's username on the image, so a screenshot shows whose it was.
Your chats
Clearing a chat removes it from your list only. The other person keeps their copy, and we keep the messages so that reports can be checked. What happens when you delete your account is on our privacy page.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute goes to the courts with jurisdiction over our registered office in Phagwara, Punjab.
